Optometrists
The British Columbia Association of Optometrists (BCAO) is a non-profit professional association representing optometrists working in 94 communities across B.C..
Optometrists specialize in examining, diagnosing, treating, managing and preventing diseases and disorders of the visual system, the eye and related structures, and can prescribe medications to treat certain eye conditions, such as infections, inflammations, allergies and injuries.
BCAO’s mission is to ensure and advance the successful practice of optometry by our members, in accordance with the highest standards of patient care by increasing public awareness, advocating for our members, and supporting them in achieving professional excellence.
We are B.C.’s trusted resource for eye health information, and a champion for quality care.
On this public website, optometrists will find great resources such as Optomart, an online “classified ads” service that lists optometric practice opportunities, jobs and equipment for sale. Optometrists can also take a look at upcoming Continuing Education opportunities offered by BCAO.
If you’re an optometrist and are not currently a member of the association, you are missing out on a wealth of support, information and resources that can take your practice to the next level. We encourage you to learn more about the benefits that membership provides.
